THE JOURNAL / 01 — OUR BIRTHPLACE
A city shaped
by porcelain.
Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, China. The place our pieces call home.
YEARS OF PORCELAIN-MAKING HISTORY
Our pieces come from Jingdezhen in Jiangxi, China — a city whose porcelain-making history spans more than 1,700 years. For centuries, its porcelain travelled beyond China, carrying a culture of craft with it.

A LIVING CONTEXT
The city is ancient.
The pieces are of today.
Jingdezhen is widely known as China’s porcelain city. UNESCO describes a porcelain-making history of more than 1,700 years, and a trade that carried its ceramics over land and sea for centuries.
Yao Bian Ji offers contemporary handmade pieces from a family-connected workshop here. The city’s history gives context to their birthplace; it is not a claim that our workshop has existed for centuries, that these are antiques, or that our products hold UNESCO certification.
Look at the actual object first: its form, its decoration and the details shown in the photographs. A place of origin should lead you closer to the piece — not replace the need to know it.
